Selection Process

Selection is merit-based, using marks in the prescribed qualifying examination. The notification does not mention a written test or interview.

  1. ONGC downloads and consolidates applications from the NAPS and NATS portals, trade-wise and work-centre-wise.
  2. Applications are scrutinised for qualification, age, relaxation and other conditions. Incomplete, duplicate or ineligible applications are rejected.
  3. A provisional merit list is prepared separately for each trade and work centre. In case of a tie, the older candidate gets preference.
  4. Candidates are shortlisted for document verification in a ratio decided by ONGC. The list is published on the ONGC website and/or sent by email.
  5. Shortlisted candidates appear for document verification with originals and self-attested copies.
  6. A final merit list is prepared after verification, applying the reservation policy.
  7. Selected candidates complete engagement formalities, which may include registration or contract formalities on the NAPS/NATS portal.

Shortlisting for document verification does not give any right to engagement as an apprentice. The shortlisting ratio and the document verification schedule have not been specified in the notification and will be notified separately.

  • Matriculation/secondary certificate or other proof of date of birth
  • Mark sheets and certificates of the qualifying examination

Any false declaration, suppression of facts or failure to produce documents can lead to cancellation of candidature, and engagement can be terminated even after joining.
