Selected candidates must sign a Contract of Apprenticeship Training before training starts. If the candidate is a minor, the guardian signs it. No hostel accommodation is provided.

Selection Process

There is no written test or viva. Selection is based on merit.

  1. Screening and scrutiny of applications.
  2. Merit list prepared cluster-wise, trade-wise and community-wise.
  3. Document verification, with a medical fitness certificate in the prescribed format.

How Merit Is Calculated

  • Merit is the average of the percentage marks in 10th and ITI, with equal weightage to both.
  • For ITI, the marks in the consolidated statement of marks for all semesters of the trade applied are used. This is the marks shown in the Provisional National Trade Certificate.
  • For boards that give grades, RRC takes the midpoint of the grade range for each subject and averages across subjects.
  • For a tie, the older candidate is preferred. If the date of birth is also the same, the candidate who passed matriculation earlier is considered first.

Warning: If the marks you enter differ from your original marksheet at document verification, your candidature will be rejected.

Medical Fitness

Candidates must meet the physical fitness standards under the Apprentices Act 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules 1992. The medical certificate must be signed by a government-authorised doctor not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of a Central/State hospital.

PwBD candidates should apply only against slots that match their disability and trade. The notification lists the maximum extent of disability allowed for each trade in para 6.2.

Documents Required

Upload these with the online application:

  • Proof of date of birth (10th certificate or DOB certificate)
  • 10th mark sheet and certificate
  • Consolidated ITI mark sheet of all semesters, or Provisional National Trade Certificate showing marks
  • National Trade Certificate (NCVT/SCVT) with mark sheet
  • SC/ST/OBC certificate in Central Government format, if claiming reservation
  • Disability certificate, for PwBD candidates
  • Discharge or serving certificate, for ex-servicemen quota claims

OBC candidates need a Caste Certificate and a Non-Creamy Layer Certificate valid for 2026-27. It must be in Central Government format and issued on or after 01/01/2026. Certificates in languages other than English or Hindi need an attested translation.

At document verification, bring originals plus self-attested photocopies of everything you uploaded. No additional documents are accepted at verification.

  • Paying less than the required fee, or not paying when not exempt.

Important Instructions

  • Merely filling the online form does not entitle you to selection.
  • Do not wait for the last days. Heavy traffic can block the website, and RRC takes no responsibility for it.
  • Candidates cannot request a change of division or unit at any stage.
  • No TA/DA is given for appearing in any stage of the process.
  • Impersonation or fake certificates can lead to rejection, a lifetime debarment from RRB/RRC examinations and legal action.
  • If the English and Hindi versions differ, the English version applies.
  • Beware of fake websites. The only fee mentioned in the notification is Rs. 100, paid online during the official application. Do not pay anyone for “guaranteed” selection.
