AIIMS NORCET 11 Educational Qualification 2026

Candidates must satisfy either of the two options below.

Option I

  • B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing or B.Sc. Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council or State Nursing Council recognised Institute or University, OR B.Sc. (Post-Certificate) or Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council or State Nursing Council recognised Institute or University.
  • Registered as Nurse and Midwife with the State or Indian Nursing Council.

Option II

  • Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) from an Indian Nursing Council or State Nursing Council recognised Institute, Board or Council.
  • Registered as Nurse and Midwife with the State or Indian Nursing Council.
  • Two years’ experience in a minimum 50-bedded hospital after acquiring the above educational qualification.

How the Two Years’ Experience Is Counted

This is the condition most often misunderstood, so read it carefully. The two years of experience is an essential criterion, not a desirable one, for candidates applying under Option II. To be valid, the experience must be acquired after obtaining the essential qualification, which means after all three of the following are complete:

  • Completing the residency period of the course
  • Declaration of the result
  • Registration with the State or Indian Nursing Council

Experience gained before registration or before declaration of result will not be counted. The crucial date for deciding qualification, registration and experience is the closing date of online registration, that is 13 August 2026. All of these must be completed on or before that date.

Experience Certificate Requirement

The experience certificate must be issued by the Head of the Organisation or Department for the entire experience claimed, and must clearly mention:

  • The number of beds in the hospital
  • Duration of employment with date, month and year
  • Basic pay or consolidated pay
  • Nature of duties performed with duration

The institute may verify the experience and employment through bank statement, PF, ESIC or any other parameter at the discretion of the competent authority.

AIIMS NORCET 11 Age Limit and Age Relaxation 2026

The age limit for all AIIMS is between 18 and 30 years. The crucial date for determining age is the closing date of online registration, that is 13 August 2026.

Age Relaxation Beyond the Upper Age Limit of 30 Years

Category Age Relaxation
SC / ST 5 years
OBC 3 years
PwBD 10 years (maximum age not to exceed 56 years)
PwBD + OBC 13 years (maximum age not to exceed 56 years)
PwBD + SC/ST 15 years (maximum age not to exceed 56 years)
Ex-Servicemen and Commissioned Officers including ECOs/SSCOs Length of military service plus 3 years (see Annexure-II of the notification)
Central Government Civilian Employees (General/UR) with at least 3 years regular and continuous service 5 years
Central Government Civilian Employees (OBC) with at least 3 years regular and continuous service 8 years (5 + 3)
Central Government Civilian Employees (SC/ST) with at least 3 years regular and continuous service 10 years (5 + 5)

Age Relaxation Conditions You Must Not Miss

  • SC, ST and OBC candidates who opt to apply against unreserved vacancies will not get age relaxation or relaxation in cut-off marks.
  • Reserved category candidates who become eligible only because of age relaxation will be considered only against reserved seats of their own category, even if their merit would otherwise place them in UR.
  • The relaxation for Central and State Government and autonomous institution employees does not apply to AIIMS, New Delhi, and may not apply to other participating institutes if expressly notified.
  • For AIIMS New Delhi and AIIMS-CAPFIMS, unless otherwise indicated in recruitment rules, this relaxation is allowed only for personnel serving in the Central Government who have completed three years of regular service.
  • Age concession for persons with disability is admissible irrespective of whether the post is reserved for PwBD, provided the post is identified suitable for the relevant category of disability.

PwBD Identified Categories

For the post of Nursing Officer, the identified disability categories are OL (One Leg), AAV (Acid Attack Victims), Dw (Dwarfism) and LC(OL) (Leprosy Cured – One Leg), provided the candidate has a benchmark disability of 40% or more. Candidates whose disability category does not match the identified categories will not be eligible for consideration against PwBD reserved seats.

AIIMS NORCET 11 Application Fee 2026

Category Application Fee
General / OBC Rs. 3,000
SC / ST / EWS Rs. 2,400
Persons with Disabilities Exempted
  • Payment can be made through debit card, credit card or net banking only.
  • Transaction or processing charges, if any, are payable by the candidate to the bank.
  • The application fee once remitted will not be refunded under any circumstances.
  • Applications without the prescribed fee will be summarily rejected.
  • Fee refund for SC/ST: the application fee of SC/ST candidates who actually appear in the examination will be refunded after declaration of results, following verification of the SC/ST certificate.

AIIMS NORCET 11 Salary and Pay Level 2026

The post of Nursing Officer is at Level 07 in the Pay Matrix, corresponding to the pre-revised Pay Band-2 of Rs. 9,300 to Rs. 34,800 with Grade Pay of Rs. 4,600, Group-B.

The notification states that the posts carry the usual allowances admissible to Central Government servants of similar status stationed at the respective cities of the respective institutes or hospitals.

Please note that the official notification specifies only the pay level and the pre-revised pay band. It does not print any monthly basic pay, gross salary or in-hand salary figure. Any specific monthly salary amount circulating on unofficial websites is not part of this notification, and actual emoluments will depend on the allowances applicable at the institute and city of posting.

AIIMS NORCET 11 Selection Process 2026

NORCET-11 is conducted in two successive stages, followed by verification.

  1. Stage-I: NORCET Preliminary (Online CBT) – qualifying in nature
  2. Stage-II: NORCET Mains (Online CBT) – merit is decided on this stage only
  3. Choice and preference filling by qualified and eligible candidates
  4. Seat allocation on the basis of merit and preferences
  5. Document verification by the respective participating institute
  6. Medical Board evaluation for candidates allocated seats under the PwBD category

AIIMS NORCET 11 Exam Pattern 2026

Stage-I: NORCET Preliminary

Total Marks 100
Subject Split 20 MCQs on General Knowledge and Aptitude, 80 MCQs on Nursing syllabus
Sections 5 sections of 20 questions each, 18 minutes per section
Negative Marking 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer
Role in Selection Qualifying only; not used for deciding merit or rank

Sectional timing warning: the sections appear one at a time in a fixed sequence. Once the set duration of a section lapses, that section is disabled and the next section is activated automatically. A closed section never comes back, so questions skipped or marked for review in a section cannot be attempted later. The examination is submitted automatically at the end of 90 minutes.

Stage-I Qualifying Percentile

Category Qualifying Percentile
UR / EWS 50th percentile
OBC 45th percentile
SC / ST 40th percentile
UR/EWS – PwBD 45th percentile

SC/ST – PwBD 35th percentile

Who Is Called for Stage-II

  • Candidates qualifying in Stage-I equal to 5 times the total seats in each category (UR, OBC, SC, ST, EWS) will be called for Stage-II.
  • All qualified PwBD candidates will be called for Stage-II.
  • All tie cases with the last candidate in the Stage-II list will also be called.
  • Merely securing the qualifying percentile in Stage-I does not automatically entitle a candidate to appear in Stage-II, because the Stage-II list is limited as per the notified scheme.

Stage-II: NORCET Mains

Particulars Details
Mode Online computer-based test
Duration 180 minutes
Total Questions 160 MCQs
Total Marks 160
Sections 4 sections of 40 questions each, 45 minutes per section
Question Type Entire nursing syllabus at essential qualification level, focused on case scenario-based questions testing nursing skill competency
Negative Marking 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer
Qualifying Marks 50% for UR/EWS, 45% for OBC, 40% for SC/ST; additional 5% relaxation for PwBD

Sectional timing applies in Stage-II as well, with the same rule that a closed section cannot be revisited. If the CBT is conducted in multiple shifts, the AIIMS normalisation procedure published vide Notice No. 35/2023 dated 20.01.2023 will apply.

Tie-Breaking Rules for Stage-II

If two or more candidates score equal marks in Stage-II, the tie is resolved in this order:

  1. Fewer wrong answers or lesser negative marks in Stage-II
  2. Higher marks in Stage-I
  3. Fewer wrong answers or lesser negative marks in Stage-I
  4. Older candidate by date of birth placed higher
  5. Alphabetical order of candidate’s name, then father’s name, then mother’s name as recorded in the application form

AIIMS NORCET 11 Syllabus 2026

The notification states that the syllabus will be in accordance with the educational qualification and experience mentioned in the eligibility section of the advertisement. AIIMS has not released a separate subject-wise syllabus PDF for NORCET-11.

In practical terms, this means:

  • Stage-I: 20 questions from General Knowledge and Aptitude, and 80 questions from the nursing courses taught at the essential qualification level, that is B.Sc. Nursing, Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing or GNM.
  • Stage-II: the entire nursing syllabus at the essential qualification level, with emphasis on case scenario-based questions that test clinical nursing competency.

Any detailed chapter-wise or topic-wise syllabus breakdown published on private websites has not been issued by AIIMS.

Merit List and Seat Allocation

  • The merit list is prepared only on the basis of Stage-II NORCET Mains performance.
  • Choices and preferences will be invited at a later stage from qualified and eligible candidates.
  • There will generally be only one round of seat allocation.
  • Allocation is made in order of merit, out of the choices filled by the candidate in order of preference.
  • A candidate allocated a seat from any choice filled is mandatorily required to join. Failure to join an allocated seat leads to mandatory cancellation of candidature for that NORCET.
  • There is no waiting list for NORCET, since the examination is planned to be conducted twice a year.
  • A candidate who fails to exercise choices in the given time will not be considered for selection. If a candidate fills choices for only a few organisations despite being eligible for others, they will not be considered for those organisations for which no choice was filled.

Practical advice: fill choices only for those institutes where you are genuinely willing to join, and do not leave out institutes you would accept, because both mistakes are costly and cannot be corrected later.

Documents Required for AIIMS NORCET 11

Provisionally qualified candidates must produce the following original certificates along with one self-attested photocopy of each at the time of document verification:

  • Downloaded registration slip of the online application form
  • Downloaded admit card

  • No Objection Certificate, if in specified government employment
  • Educational qualification certificates
  • INC or State Nursing Council registration certificate
  • Experience certificate, if applicable

No additional time will be granted to obtain a certificate from an issuing authority, so candidates should keep all documents ready before applying.

If a candidate does not yet hold an OBC-NCL certificate valid for 2026-2027 at the time of registration, the previously issued certificate may be uploaded along with proof of application for renewal, but the valid certificate must be produced within the time notified by AIIMS or the institute.

No Objection Certificate (NOC) Requirement

An NOC from the present employer is mandatory for candidates working in Government, Semi-Government or Quasi-Government bodies, PSUs, autonomous bodies, or any institution funded by the Government. This includes candidates working on a contractual basis in such organisations.

The last date to submit the NOC is 18 August 2026 up to 5:00 PM. Failure to upload the correct NOC within the specified time will lead to cancellation or non-consideration of candidature, and the candidate may not be permitted to appear in the examination irrespective of application status. Candidates in such employment should obtain the NOC before applying.

  • Category cannot be changed from SC/ST to UR, OBC or EWS once the registration fee is submitted.
  • Candidature remains provisional throughout. Issue of an admit card or permission to appear in the examination does not amount to acceptance of your eligibility, category, age relaxation, qualification, experience or NOC claim.
  • Detailed scrutiny of eligibility may not be carried out before the examination. Ineligibility detected at any stage, including after joining, will lead to cancellation of candidature and forfeiture of the allocated seat.

  • Any eligibility condition, relaxation, exemption or benefit not expressly provided in the advertisement will not be admissible.

Beware of Fake Recruitment Websites and Fraud

The official notification carries an explicit caution. AIIMS does not authorise any agent, coaching centre, social media channel, WhatsApp or Telegram group, or third-party website for recruitment, appointment, recommendation, document verification, or any payment other than the prescribed online application fee.

Candidates should rely only on official notices published on www.aiimsexams.ac.in. In case of any discrepancy, the official advertisement and notices published on the AIIMS examination website will prevail. AIIMS has also issued a separate general caution against recruitment and admission fraud vide Notice No. 94/2026 dated 15.06.2026.

Never pay money to any person or agency promising a Nursing Officer seat, and never share your login credentials.

Common Mistakes That Lead to Rejection

  • Creating a fresh registration ID when an old OTR ID already exists.
  • Counting the two years’ experience from before council registration or before declaration of result.
  • Claiming experience from a hospital with fewer than 50 beds.
  • Uploading an experience certificate that does not mention the number of beds, duration or pay.
  • Uploading an OBC-NCL or EWS certificate issued outside the 01.04.2026 to 13.08.2026 window.
  • Submitting a State-format OBC certificate instead of the Central Government format.
  • Forgetting to obtain and upload the NOC when employed in a government-funded organisation, including on contract.
  • Uploading a photograph, signature or thumb impression that does not meet the Upload Image Instructions.
  • Assuming that qualifying the Stage-I percentile guarantees a Stage-II call.
  • Attempting questions out of the active section, or leaving questions for later in a sectional-timed paper.
  • Filling too few choices during seat allocation, or filling choices for institutes the candidate does not intend to join.
  • Waiting until the last day to apply, when the notification states no extension will be given.
